no joke, the other day a guy showed me his dead mint Nat. 40 he'd been given... and very light to boot!
I waited a couple of years to find my bursted looker @ $400 and as soon as I put down on it the seller got calls from around the world begging to buy after sitting online for a month. this was a year ago, the best examples will probably sit there forever, not a lot of demand.

I got this 8 string bass for a great price on ebay about a year ago. I don't know much about Frank Bello but his bass is close enough for me to getting a Tom Petersson sound (with 4 less things to tune).
Volume, pan, bass/mid/treble cut/boost. Almost too much control for me.

Wanted to ask y'all about EMG pups..I want to fit in both my LTDs (204 FM & F4 ENS) some EMG 35 DC pups With EMG active EQs. Some of the LTDs come already aquipped with those, what can you tell me about the sound? I need a crisp punchy sound, I play metal, with distortion ( Darkglass B7K Ultra is my next purchase)

I don't mean to imply that the bass sounds bad with the stock electronics. In fact, a couple of guys think I'm crazy for wanting to change them. However, I know what the Nord Big Splits do and I think that will make for a nice fretless tone, both with bridge-only setting and both-pups settings. Plenty of character and definition, but not overly upfront and aggressive, although they can be if the treble is pushed.

Updating this post to reflect the pup change...

I wound up getting a set of Nord Big Rigs and Nord preamp for my LTD fretless. Man, it’s really sounding great now. Wired up both pups did parallel operation, no series switching or anything. Wanted to try the pups in parallel first and that’s perfect for me.

And I expected to use mainly the rear pup for the obligatory Jaco-type tone, but I’m really liking the tone with both pups at 100%. Smooth with bite. Really enjoying getting back into fretless.

I have a Korean made LTD B205 that came from factory with EMG'S. Its the best sounding bass I have owned and almost best sounding bass I have played. Only 1 better was my friends Fodera. It mainly sounded different. Solid lows, nice crisp sound to punch thru the mix. My LTD D4 has LTD made pickups. I would like to change them to emg's

Bought this on Ebay recently. Wow!
I had early EMG-Overlend pickups in a bass I owned in the early 80’s.
It sounded very good, but this one sounds amazing for a $600 used investment (incl. new roto-mold hard case).
I was shopping for a 5 string Precision when this caught my eye. My wallet was pleased, as well.
