I had a LaBella DTF break when strung thru body so I bought a set of the thru body and no issues. I had the LTFs on one bass but I can't remember if it was thru body or not.

Response from La Bella is: "You could install them through the body but you must be very careful so that the part of the string that bends is massage / bent by hand before installation."
Never tried the LTF's, but have used many brands of flats over 3 decades, from LaBella, GHD, Pyramid, Fender, & TI, and never had any issues stringing thru the body. Ever.

La Bella advise against using their 760 set for through-body stringing as they are prone to breaking. They make a specific through-body version.
I know, I've read the warnings but did it anyway. I'm still alive to talk about it. Never had an issue. That's what happens when you live life on the razors edge.
I’ve strung many flats through body, and I’ve busted LS flats down to short scale. I’ve learned that the more flexible the flat (think floppy noodle), the higher the success rate. La Bella does recommend not going through body, but that is really akin to lawyer speak. It can be done with a high success rate, but the potential for failure is higher than normal.

I've broken a 760 E by ignoring the advice to only wrap the silk round a tuning post... and the angle on some through-body holes is much sharper. Going to try an LTF set on my Renaissance anyway.
I’ve broken La Bella’s around a tuning post (2 for 2, actually, while trying to use La Bella golds on a Gibson SS), but I’ve never over the saddle. Pyramids, TIs, and Fender Studio Bass flats (from 1982) went around the same SS post just fine.

It seems the LTF-5a-XL set I need is impossible to find in Europe! But luckily talkbass itself had a set on fleabay with international shipping. A little more than I thought I'd have to pay so will be real careful putting those strings on...
