I'm in complete agreement with your last paragraph but STIFF - no. Lovely strings!

I've got them on my '30s Kay; they're not stiff, but they are DARK!

I wish I could go with Mittles, but I don't want the extra tension on the top, and I need a string that's easier to bow...

Exactly; dark is the opposite of zingy

I wouldn't personally describe my experience with them as either, but I had a George Mraz fretless ebg idea in mind, that is not what I experienced when I finally let Jake talk me into them.
