Lunar eclipse Sept 27th

This Sunday night, Sept 27th. will be a total lunar eclipse. Perfectly positioned for North and South America, it will begin just after dark and last for several hours.

Great opportunity for those of you who want to practice some nighttime photography. Get a tripod and warm up your digital camera.

Got to see the start, then the clouds rolled it. I'm about 15 miles north of down town Fort Worth.

Got lucky here in Hagerstown Md. Started out pretty clear and as about 1/4 of it got covered some light clouds rolled in. Not enough to not see it but just a bit hazy. Since I have to get up really early for work , I headed off to bed. About 10:15 Seahag (my lovely wife) came in and woke me up. "It cleared up , you should come look." She had set up some lawn chairs out in the back yard so out we went. Spectacular. It was clear as a bell. We sat out there till about 11 (complete coverage by then) and then I headed in to bed. Seahag and Jailbait (my lovely daughter) stayed out and watched it till it was full and bright again. Unfortunately , Gatorbait (my son) was playing a gig somewhere up near Pittsburgh. Don't know if he saw it or not.

I don't know if I've become jaded through the years, but I'm going to say it wasn't worth the wait.

I got to see it for about a second before the clouds covered it up again. If I'd had the great views that some did, I would say it was worth waiting outside for.

On the West Coast at Del Cerro Park, Palos Verdes, caught the eclipse in action. First shot is the moon rising, next is the red and finally back to normal...kinda

I had a great view in Long Island NY. My wife and I got our nine year old out of bed to see it. I was lazy and didn't take out the tripod so my pictures aren't that great.

It was cloudy all day but cleared up just before dark. I'm camping with friends and we all sat outside in lawn chairs watching from beginning to end.

I tried taking pictures but my eyesight has gone bad and it turned out that I mis-focused the camera and all the shots are blurry.
