Hi there. I'm the Big Harry Texan. I've played bass guitar from '84 to '96, when I pawned it like an idiot. Hey... Musician gotta pay rent, right?
It was a 1984 Peavey Patriot single pickup with a 600 watt amp and 24" speaker. Yeah, I'm still kicking myself for that.
That Patriot went around the world with me in '89-'90. I was on a Navy Cruiser (USS LONG BEACH). A bunch of us got together to jam, and we were invited to play at shipboard events. I introduce myself sometimes with, "I played bass guitar in a rock band that toured the world!"
In '21, I used a stimulus check to buy a Fender Squier P-Bass with PJ pickups. It took me a few months to get back up to speed. Well... I'm not back to where I was in '94, but I hold my own pretty well.
I love to play blues. Donald "Duck" Dunn taught me how to play with an 8-Track of Blues Brothers. But learning the blues scales taught me what I needed to get into rock and country.
