Been using this site as go-to for my Bass info for YEARS... and finally figured its only right to finally sign up... so... here ya go...
Here because... Been pulling out the bass gear again lately for first time in years, and having fun remembering how to work it.
Confession, most of my lifetime pretend-to-be-a-musician hours have been spent as a guitardonoodlewanker... But I love to play the big strings, especially in a group situation, and whenever I do, pickin up the 'little instruments' always feel like little ol' toys afterwards! My playing is amusingly mediocre, but I like to think I make up for it in a combo by having half decent meter and dynamics and awareness ( <--- obv. a handicap with my work in the guitardoclub...

BITD my bass-time included amateur cover & blues bands here and there, and doing spot gigs and fill-ins when the real musicians were busy (aka high, drunk, sleeping, gettin' w the ladies... you know... being musicians...) Nothing remarkable, just fun.
Gear?
Basswise - Mainly a very sweet G&L L2K which I stole (deal-stole not stole-stole obv) from a proper good ol' music shop BITD, back when we still had them and they'd have as much or more used gear than the boring new crap. Also a couple short-scale oddballs, both given to me for free BITD... an old Japanese Epi ET-280, and a tired and abused Mosrite Ventures (Mk 1?) that 'some day soon' I need to strip down and refinish the body on (at some point in the last 50yrs poor thing was poorly stripped and refinished... it really deserves a little love...)
Ampwise - the 'working rig' is an old "Mk I" 400RB and a Kustom 1-15B with a (not ideally matched) Delta 15A in it. Its only 'OK'. However when budget permits I believe a 3015 will set that cab extremely right, and the world will become a better place. The collector gem is the near-mint '64 blonde piggyback Bassman that I'm the 2nd owner of, the original owner having been a lifetime pro country player who played it in who knows how many joints over its first 30yrs. Matching original cab w/ orig Jensens and the whole deal. Up until the aughts I used to gig w/ that (as a guitar amp too...) but got increasingly OCD about dragging it in and out of bars and venues and jam-basements and whatnot, plus, its a bit of a limited sound - even if it is vintageydelishiss. On the shelf then is a Traynor YBA-3 Custom Special in a state of disassembly awaiting full rehabilitation, I do believe that will be phenomenal if I ever get it done... I have 4 other guitar Traynors with various levels of mods or stock, so, ampwork and fiddling is kinda my thing, and Traynors are really fantastic.
