Double Bass luthier in Melbourne

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a luthier in Melbourne?
My Bass need a new bridge (its too low) and the fingerboard may need to be planed as well.
Sound like a complete set up.
Can anyone give me an idea how much will it cost?

Assuming you mean mean Melbourne in Australia rather than Florida, here are two options: in Williamstown there is Vincent Hayes. In Hawthorn, there's Ben Puglisi. Depending on the bridge quality and whether you want it adjustable it could be 2 - 400 bucks.

Have you tried Ben Puglisi ? If so, what's your opinion?
I don't need an adjustable as I mainly play classical. Is the cost you mention including the bridge? or is it just the labour cost?

I have been using Ben Puglisi for many years. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about him.

Thanks for your advise, but do you have any idea how much will it cost to have a new bridge fitted? or other set up? just rough idea.
As I have never deal with a luthier, the one I bought my bass from did a bad job. I do not want to go back to him.

The best person to ask is probably Ben! Take your bass in, he'll give you his opinion and a fair price, and is not going to rip you off.

Best to give him a call. I have not had a new bridge on my bass now for years. I know Ben will set you up with an A Grade Bridge. The lst time he did my fingerboard he did a great job too so what more can I say.

Just give him a call, he should give you an idea of price.

Who have you been to before? Was He JF? If you don't know who he is PM me and I will let you know. I have heard many bad stories about JF before. But Ben is Great.

Thanks for your advise, "He" is not JF, but to be kind, I rather not to say his name.
I shall give Ben a call. The fingerboard is not very smooth, action on E string is too low that's why it always gives a buzz on E.
Hopefully the problem can be fixed by just putting in a new bridge.
