Luthier screwed up my P bass

I'm really happy that both parties here have emerged happy from what could have been a very ugly accident.

The back placement of a battery compartment is totally out of sight and a great compromise.

I know I'll seem as "that guy" for mentioning it, but the front routes for the pickup ears are huge!

That may be, but I'm not bothered by it. I watched him fit two different J routing templates on the pickup. One was more of a snug fit. It's fine.

I too, have found that J pickup covers vary in size.

Yeah...had a roadstar that was essential a P/J with a cool Ibanez headstock and heart shaped tuning pegs. Pre-really knowing how to solder, I just couldn't fix the wiring and eventually just sold it cheap. Should have held onto it, though, because it was really cool.

I can't argue that point. I treat my basses as priceless. I can can get another P.bass any day of the week. What I can't replace is my neck thru p-bass. My Modulus and Ibby Roadstar would be difficult. If a tech or luthier put a hole in through one of those, I'd never seek his services again.

For me, it depends on the circumstances. But that's me. Some of the best business relationships that I've made have started with adversity. It's how it's handled that counts.

But does that make a difference?

It makes a difference to me.

If you write off anybody who may have a single accident ever... you'd better learn to do your own plumbing, mechanics, electrical work, etc...

A single accident is an anecdote, not a pattern, so depending on how it's been dealt with it I'm ok with it. I mean... I'd rather it didn't happen, but it's already happened, what do you do? Be pragmatic/sensible.
