M-Audio/Digitech chaining question.

Hello all.

Several months ago I was given an M-Audio M-Track Plus, with Pro Tools Express for my birthday. Today, a Digitech BP355 arrived at my door, as an early Christmas gift. What I didn't know until today was you can only use the M-Track Plus with Pro Tools Express. (Can't even load PT Express unless the M-Track's connected). No other DAW will work with it, and that renders the BP355 useless unless I either buy a different DAW, or chain it into the M-Track.

The manual for the M-Track shows them using a "Y" type cable, and connecting it to the "insert" connection, on channel 1, with a guitar connected to channel 2. What I'd like to know is, if I can take the 1/4" left/right mono outs, on the back of the unit, and connect one side to channel 1, and the other to channel 2, on the M-Track, or do I need to do it as illustrated? I ask because for the moment, I only have one cable.

You plug your bass into the pedal and the pedal into your interface, same input you've been plugging your bass into. You could use both the L & R outputs of the pedal into both inputs on the interface, but it's pointless if the pedal doesn't do stereo effects or you don't use stereo effects.
