M2000 help

Calling @agedhorse for troubleshooting help. Also noting a post from a few years ago to caution that it may or may not be repairable:
Note that some of the parts for this generation of amps are becoming unobtanium as the component vendors discontinue entire lines of components. Specifically some pots, switches, LDRs, power transformer, etc. We try to maintain service stock inventory, but the amp was discontinued 20 years ago.

It's probably time to move on. If the amp were newer and parts were readily available, my advice would be different.

My impression is the M2000 had a lot of problems. I was really interested in this model, but was scared off by various testimonials. It's also a pretty old amp and AFAIK essential parts may be unobtanium.
  • It could be a simple fix, but I think odds are it wont' be.
  • Before doing anything, I think you need to assess how much risk you are willing to take on getting the amp fixed. Perhaps it would be better to put funds towards a new amp with a warranty.
  • If you decide to proceed with a repair attempt, best bet is to send it to Mesa factory service. But call first to discuss symptoms and parts availability.
    • You will be out shipping to Mesa and a bench fee.
    • Repair may be expensive or impossible
      • You may wind up spending a couple hundred dollars and still wind up a big beautiful brick.

The M-2000 needs to go back to the factory, it's a very complex amp and unfortunately some parts are no longer available but you may get lucky. We have one tech who is experienced in these amps and sometimes he can source components from our obsolete service stock inventory if the part is there.

Give our customer service guys a call on Monday and see what they say.
