They have done it in the past. Does that mean that they will continue? Who knows... Good news is that they still are providing bug fixes so there may still be some sort of development going on with it.

I'd say that most of the effects on there today function quite well with bass. Some better than others, but there certainly are a lot that work very well.

Six months ago I would have said that they will definitely add more effects, but the latest firmware releases are just very minor tweaks. So I'm leaning towards no new effects. I hope I'm wrong.

I bought the M13 and reading the instructions I found that I need to buy a bunch of stuff in order to upgrade the software, M16 website says that I need a midi interface and two midi cables :( My question is what exactly I need and where I can buy it any suggested brand? I am not into computer so I dont have any idea.

This is super cool, I do not have an M13 yet but trying to apply this to my current set up. I have an effects loop, but was wondering about something. I have a Carvin BX1200 head, this has a built in crossover and a bi-amp set up. Each side low and high has an insert. In order to get parallel effects would I still need to wire similarly to above minus the LS-2 or could I simply input 1 the high side and effect it (pitch shift, distortion) and input 2 the low side (sub octave, reverb) and use the returns in the same way? Or is it the wiring diagram that allow the parallel effects? I have read this entire thread and I am not clear on that point yet. Thanks!

I'm loving using 2 pitchglides and detuning one up by 0.3 and one down by 0.6. Using that before and after distortions can give a classic DnB 'Reece' Bass sound (effectively a homemade chorus that isn't as 'wet' as some of the chorus settings.)

Also, chaining compressor > synth-o-matic > distortion > reverb for some very 'Inception'-type sounds.

It's the ls-2 that allows for parallel effects. Essentially, you split your signal into two copies, effect each differently, and then re-combine. Also, your head has inserts for the crossover, but not output. you can feed the m-13 two clean signals (ls-2 or stereo effects loop or other splitter) then feed the main input of the amp (or effects return) and then separate frequencies to the low and high amps and cabinets with the crossover.

To feed the m13 a high and low signal, you would need a crossover that sends highs and lows separately, feed one the the main m13 input and the other to the effect loop, then out to the inputs of the crossover in the bx1200.

It seems like it would be easier to split your signal and effect two full range signals, then use the frequency knob on the bx1200 crossover to dial in how much suboctave to pitch shifted sound you wanted, and you have the added bonus of relative volume knobs for each amp, making mixing a dream.

I get it now I can use the inserts with a tip-ring-sleeve splitter to two female 1/4 inch adapters and basically make two effects loops. One from the high side of the built in crossover and 1 from the low end, using input 1 and effect send to complete 1 loop then use fx return and output 1 to complete the second loop. Just purchased a manufacturer reconditioned 1 off ebay for 335 dollars. Can't wait to start playing! Great topic!

That will work. There is only one problem I see with that setup, effects loops usually run line level signals. The M13 is set up to run at instrument level signals, and responds best to weak instrument levels at that.

I would expect to have pretty poor results from effects with an attack, volt sensitivity, or swell parameter, compressors, envelope filters, triggered effects and distortions. Give it a shot and see what happens, but if you're not happy with the results from a lot of the effects, try it in a normal bass> effect> amp setup and see what happens. If you still don't like it, play with your instrument volume and see what happens. If you still don't like it... sell it.

Anyone uses both simultaneous? 2 units of m13 or 2 units of m9.... or 1 unit of m13 and one m9?

Is this a good ideia?

Now i have the m13... but i think a m9 will be a good to, to use compressor, eqs and those stuffs.... and the m13 for the effects..

What do you people think about this?

I've been thinking about getting a 2nd M9 - one for the big pedalboard/setup and one for the 'light' gigs (light cab in one hand, double bassbag on one shoulder with M9 in it, light amp on the same shoulder - one trip car <-> venue)


Haven't thought about using both together (hmmmm the possibilities: trying to run 2 loops together :D)

Both at the same time, or sweeping from 5th up to octave up? Because you can set the pitch glide to sweep anything from -2 to +2 octaves.
