Hi guys
this is my first post in this forum, I've searched before posting this question.
Has any of you improvised tuners? I'm doing a little experiment (I'm not builder, not even slightly skilled)and I don't want to use proper tuners in it and was wondering if any of you has an idea on how to make something very basic but that works.
I would really appreciate a lot any ideas.

Tuning machines ARE pretty basic. I don't know what else you would use, but I'm curious. Got any pix of this project?

no pics, I'd be embarrased but I haven't started yet, if anything goes nice I might post some. the idea is not to spend more than 50 dollars (25 pounds) on the whole project.

How about plain old-school tuning pegs, ala-gambas? I've even seen a few old double basses with pegs.

The only problem with that is I'm not using hardwoods, as I said it is only a little experiment, but I'll see if it works. thanks

Maybe if you drill the hole out a bit? These are used for pianos, so I don't think tension would be a problem.
