Mackie 1608 disaster!!!!

I just updated the fader app to 2.1 and the damn thing wiped out all my shows!!!! Tech support is closed. How do I recover all these shows?

Nope...it appears that there is no way to "permanently" save shows. We lost all of our shows when doing the mackie firmware update...wiped out. Luckily, we found the shows on another Ipad and were able to synch this Ipad to the mixer and recover everything, but we killed a night of practice dealing with this.

I'm calling mackie today to get some sort of explanation.

yes...dumb luck.

Here's the reply from Mackie Tech Support:

"Hi,

Unfortunately there currently isn’t a way to back up the snapshots and presets other than having them stored on an additional iPad."

So, in reality it takes two IPads to run a mackie DL1608. One to operate and one to use as a floppy drive. Ridiculous!!!

The normal iPad backup backs up the shows and user presets (via iTunes or iCloud). The present show is also stored in the mixer itself. Personally I only use a single show to store all the snapshots for the various bands I work with. Working with multiple show files gets confusing especially as to how to sync them across multiple iPads.

huh, mine updated automatically and i still have all my snapshots. (ipad 3)

Obviously, I don't know what went wrong with your update. But my experience was like Walter's: I updated my 1608 Master Fader app manually on an iPad3 and didn't have any problems.

I think the Master Fader app will update without loss of data, but if you update the Mackie firmware you'll have the problem.

We love the Mackie, otherwise.

Good suggestion about using iTunes/Cloud as a backup method. We'll try it.
