I'd like to talk to someone who knows about the bios upgrade chip that allows you to use regular hard drives instead of the jacked-up Mackie M90 drives that they want you to buy. The upgrade allows the recorder to recognize and use HD's larger than the standard 20 GB Mackie M90's. All Mackie tells me is that it will void the warranty. I know that their is a mod out there, as I recorded recently at a smaller "name" studio who was using the Mackie HDR unit with said mod done to it.

Well that's great. Just great. Glad to see there are so many Mackie users here at TB! 
I think I'll chance it and partition a 40 gig to give me a 20 and avoid stability problems.
