i bought one these on whim because the price is right. should be arriving in the mail before the week is over. it's built from a kit. not much info online for what it was modeled on. anyone here familiar with these? tips?

I corresponded with someone in Europe who built one and had high praise, can't remember who it was offhand though. I looked into this kit a bit back when I was working on my own tube preamp designs several years ago. The schematic "thumb" is pretty hard to read, but the tone stack looks to be more or less based on an active Baxandall format, not a typical FMV or Ampeg/James one. So hopefully it will prove to be kind of its own thing.

preamp arrived today. nice sturdy casing. everything works as promised. sonically, it reminds me most of my ampeg svp pro. a bit squishy. drives the power amp fine. the eq controls are functional. it's not dead silent, but neither is my ampeg. more updates later.
I Forgot I had one of these for about 10 years. Took it out last week and popped a new set of valves in. I don't remembering it being this good and that's most likely why I ended up putting it in the storage locker. Now, I have to say Im glad to have re-discovered it because it is amazing! Super squishy tube compression and the punch is insane. It even has that nice tube feel to the touch. I havent been using anything else for bass since.
