Magellan 800 vs LH1000 ???

I have and do find it noisy when the mid is cranked. If you have bass and treble all the way down or mostly down the response basically flat and the mid acts as a volume control. All the pot gains really jump after 7
So, I turn bass and treble off, set the mid to 5, bridge the amp and have plenty of quiet range on the volume. I actually have bass and treble on 2. If there isn't enough volume by 6 or 7 on the master, turn up the mid to 6 or 7 and you will have more than you need.

after comparing my LH500 to a carvin BX250, i sold the carvin. that being said, i like a scooped tone and the carvin was transparent and lacked oomph no matter how i set it. since i'm a clean player, the LH500 won by a mile, and i find those three eq knobs actually make for a lot of different tones while the carvin BX250 had more eq controls but less noticeable variation of tone.

Kringle77, I've been reading your observations for years, and your take is amazingly valuable.

I've gotten all excited about a whole series of class D heads, but when they get auditioned, I go home without them. I finally did buy one, it isn't awful, but not as pretty sounding as my Thunderfunk. I came to the same conclusions, I like the sound of a traditional amp better, but I don't always care to lug one. I agree, it comes down to weight. Heft, bounce, effortless and relaxed yet clear are the adjectives that I desire to use about my rig.

I'll soon be replacing my class D head with a more modern product. I do have high hopes, but thanks to you, those hopes are tempered with a sense of reality. Thank you.
