Make my own Markbass NY 121 cab?

If you have seen my previous posts you know that I had a Markbass CMD 121P that essentially blew up. I realized that the speaker wasn't pulling the correct resistance and so I was left with a blown amp, broken speaker, and a box.

I replaced the CMD 121 with another one and have had no problems since.

I came across a post on Reverb of someone selling a Markbass 12" speaker that came from a CMD121P and I had a lightbulb moment. I could simply place that speaker into the old enclosure, wire up a speakon to female spade cable, and use that as a cabinet extension.

The only thing that gives me pause or hesitation is that I am unsure about the need to include the tweeter from the old cab. The speaker shows that it is an 8ohm speaker, which paired with the currently working amp, would create 4ohms. So from the advertised ratings on the amp and speaker this should be fine.

Just to reiterate my plan: Take the old CMD121P cabinet box and a functioning 12" 8ohm Markbass speaker and plug directly into the extension output (via speakon) from a working Markbass CMD 121P.

Has anyone come across this or tried this and what was your experiences?

I should have all the parts this weekend and I'm really excited to be able to add another 12" speaker to my rig without spending as much as buying another amp.
