Maker's Mark is definitely my poison. In an Old Fashioned glass on the rocks and/or with a splash of water.
Which reminds me... I drank the last of mine the other day and need to stock up. Would it be cheaper here in Pennsylvania, or should I wait until I get to South Carolina in a week or so?

Maker's is the best sour mash I've had, not that I've tried that many. I tend toward the other kind. What would that be - sweet mash? The Turkey has always been a staple, though I've had some very smooth Eagle Rare from time to time.

yep, I'm a huge fan of bulleit. One of the best bourbons around for the dollar if anyone wanted my opinion. It and Jim Beam are my go to bourbons.

These guys too...

don't recall how long it took, but it all happened in within a few months, certainly less than half a year. i could ask him, but i don't know the secret handshake so he may act like he doesn't know what i am talking about. now that he is an ambassador and all, he has somehow changed..... maybe you don't want to go down there....

It has been way over a year and have not gotten any response they do send an ocasional email with a recipie using MM and with the Kentuckey Derby coming up they will send something on that too..Think I will send them an email.

I've been wanting to head down south and visit some distilleries for a while... you visit a bunch down there?

If you remember the name of that beer, I'd be pretty interested in trying it out, I've never bumped into it (but I'm not usually a big beer drinker)

Makers Mark and Knob Creek are nice drinks. I once found a nice industrial-strength bourbon called Buffalo Trace in Watertown NY and have never seen it anywhere else. However, I have an admiration for Wild Turkey 101, Jim Beam, Woodfords and / or Jim Beam black label 8 y.o. Straight up.

I keep a 50 ml bottle of JD attached to my mike stand......... "For Emergency Use Only", like snake or groupie bite.

While Crown Royal is a great mixer, a fine straight-up rye is a brand called Gibson's Rare.

Appletons VX is a great amber rum. I'm patrial to Appletons ever since I took a tour of the distillery when I went on a vacation to Jamaica. Fantastic in a cup of Blue Mountain coffee.

I find 1800-Anejo tequila tastes a lot more like brandy than tequila. Smooth as silk.

Funny... It seems my first post on the TalkBass forums will be in a thread related to whiskey. :)

I just finished a bottle of MM a few days ago. For me, it's an "easy" drink. There's nothing very complex about it and it goes down without a fight.

However, as far as bourbon's go, I'd much rather get into Elmer T Lee or Eagle Rare at that price point.

No thanks (and no offense) to the blended Canadian stuff. I find Crown Royal to be even more bland than Maker's Mark.

All that said, Tequila is my poison and I'm working on some El Tesoro Anejo as I type. :)
