MAN! This frustrates the hell outta me! (Ibanez Q.C issue inside)

I have seen many mismatched bodied Ibanez basses being sold for full retail...
Even Rondo wouldn't let this get by!
This crap needs to stop! Heres an example of what I'm griping aboot.

the neck variation is happening because it's a three piece neck and they intentionally orient the grain for stability. all you're seeing there is the way the grain orientation shows in the lighting.

It's probably a sub 500 dollar bass made of solid maple, you're not going to get AAAAA grade book matched maple at that price point. It probably doesn't look nearly as off match in person, lighting does odd things to maple.

In fairness to OP, "melted" tops usually feature contrasting woods rather than perpendicular grains. I am curious to know what the alleged QC issue looks like from the front and sounds like.

Sorry, but the grain on the OP's bass is parallel, not perpendicular.

No, the tiger pattern is perpendicular; the grain is parallel. Look again.

While Ibanez has recently been experiencing a surge in QC problems this is far from one of them.

I also want to know what we are looking at. This might be an issue if that is one of those $6000 Gary Willis signatures.

I'm pretty sure this crap has stopped. Unless I miss my guess, that is a discontinued model - an SR400 with PJ pickups.

I'd totally rock that bass. Seriously, I ordered a Squier VM jazz online and it had some cosmetic issues but was a great player. I called the online dealer and negotiated a fair discount. I have grown to love the issues with mine...makes it unique.
