Anyone else catch the premiere of this show on the Discovery channel last week?

It's a survival scenario reality show. I'm totally into stuff like this. Anyway, this guy is really hardcore...check it out for many life saving survival techniques...or for pure entertainment value.

There's another show on the National Geographic channel called Survivorman which is pretty sweet too.

I saw a preview for it. It seemed like a rip of Survivorman from what I saw, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and try to catch an episode.

It's very similar...but this dude is a little more extreme.

However, I give Les Stoud (survivorman) more credit, because he is out there completely by himself lugging his own gear around, doing his own shots, etc. Taking nothing away from the guy from Man vs. Wild, but he has a crew with him. So he's got people there if things get a little too hectic.

No..because he jumped into a frozen river and sat there for aleast a minute. Explained how to control yourself and then got out all on his own. He was wearing nothing but a T shirt and pants. Les wears all kinds of crazy weather gear; Bear wears very little of anything.

I've seen Survivorman a few times. "Although I don't enjoy taking lives of animals, I must do what I must to survive" is his favorite line it seems. Or something close to that.

So, has anyone else been watching this?

I'm a big fan of this show now. In fact my friday nights have pretty much revolved around it the past few weeks. How badass is Bear Grylls???

I seen the previews when Bear is in the Sahara desert, and squeezes the liquid of fresh Elephant dung into his mouth for the water . I would rather die of thurst!

Yea, that episode was hardcore. He also spots some vultures which lead him to a zebra carcass that he just starts knawing at like a wild animal...awesome.

I wish they still carried the Survivor man episodes on Discovery. Man vs Wild will have to do.

Les wears what would be typical for people to wear in that area if they were in that situation, like the plane crash episode in ontario, he had pieces of a crashed plane and pretended to have one usable arm for 3 of the days.

If you see the episode where he's in the rainforest he gets overwelmed and scared, it rules.

I like Survivor Man, I haven't seen Man Vs. Wild yet. I'll have to check it out.

I went to Discovery.com to check it out and they have a video of that elephant dung episode and they show him dive face first into the zebra carcass. That guy is nuts. Survivor man would have already set up his fire pit and at least cooked it first. Probably a little maggots or lizard on the side too.


They have another show called "I shouldn't be Alive". It's in the same realm of "survival TV" shows that are on now. Mater of fact, the Survivor Man is on one episode. They will show an actual survivor story and reenact it and then have an expert show what they should have done.

All cool shows in my opinion. When it comes to watching "reality tv" it sure beats watching someone get kicked off an island.

Yea that shows pretty crazy. I don't think I will ever have to use that information because I'm a lazy bastard but it's pretty good to know just in case. Lol the best part of that Sahara episode is when he sets the dried elephant crap on fire. Can you imagine the smell?
