Manageable stand alone cab for buster bass 200 head

Witch stand alone cab?

I did a few gigs with a Buster / Aguilar DB212 rig. It was pretty nice. Love both of those pieces of gear. Real top notch stuff.

Man that rig looks clean! After playing the 212, do you think it handled the buster, or do you think the buster could overwhelm it pretty easily? I'm afraid that if I get the 212 I will wish would have got the 410 due to it being able to handle being pushed harder than the 212.

Thanks! That's kinda what I was thinking was going on. I am I interested in their (Avatar) 212 and 410 cabs though. Anyone wanna chime in? I'm thinking the lineX, with wheat grill/white piping will look pretty sick! If I do go that route I will get some extra wheat grill cloth and match my buster to it. Kinda like the one a couple posts ago, but with wheat instead. That rig looks soooo clean!......did I say that yet?;)

It handled it, but I think it might be possible to get more out of the Buster with a different cab. The Buster is such a nice big clean tube head with a really strong low end voice that I don't think having the little extra juice of the 410 would hurt one bit.

I didn't get a ton of gig time with the Buster before I sold it off, but I do kind of remember one practice where I was kind of thinking the low end was sounding a little choked up with the DB212. EDIT: there was a ton of low mid punch, with a very strong low voice, but not that big low end bloom - hit an open E string rock god kind of thing going on.

IME, matching up cabs with tube amps is always tricky... especially in the low end.

If thats the vibe you are going for, I would be looking at getting a Dually done up like this one.

That looks so awesome! I just did a quick look at the dually specks and WOW! These things are under 60lbs! That's almost 100lbs LIGHTER than my boogie RR 215. How huch do you think I can get one like that with the cloth grill and all?

I voted for the Mesa 2x12. Its the only one I have extensive experience with. But, I think the Buster also shines with fifteens. I bet the dually Buster combo would kill.

Update: I have a Orange OBC-410 Speaker Cab on the way. I think this will be a good match. It was ment to complement the orange 200 watt tube bass head, so I think the buster will not only look awesome sitting on it, but sound great as well. I got approved for 24 month interest free financing, so I'm going to take the plunge! Wish me luck, thanks for all your input. After all the pondering, the orange just sort of came to me on it's own ;)

Well I just unpacked the orange obc410 and it made it here in great shape! (although I haven't plugged it in yet) can't wait to hear this sucker! There is an odd issue though. I noticed that orange must of had a brain fart, and put the ocb210 jack plate on there instead of the ocb410 jack plate. There is no difference between the two other than the fact that I'm concerned about warranty and possible resale issues. Other than that the build quality seems to be fantastic.

Due to the jack plate issue I returned to orange obc410, and ordered a traditional ph410. I thought the orange sounded pretty good when I plugged it in. I just felt that Mesa was prob the way to go. Instead of the vintage ph, I went with the traditional ph, because of price point, and I rely don't need the fancy crossover (I mostly play with very little/no tweeter). I know that I'm taking a bit of a gamble by choosing the traditional over the vintage, but something in my gut tells me that there is a reason Mesa introduced these cabs at the same time they reintroduced ALL tube bass heads to their line up, and paired them together at namm and other shows. Wish me luck!
