So why do some basses have Mandolin Frets, and why do players use them, players such as the amazing Carles Benavent?

Mandolin Frets

I love em. Less fret noise, smoother feel, easier to work left hand dynamics (not like fretless but somewhere at the distant end of same continuum). On the other hand, roundwounds wear them out quickly (I play flats on my little fretted basses).
