My 17-year old daughter surprised me with this beauty for Christmas:

First up is now-departed Jack, a rough-coat Jack Russell Terrier. He was a 50th birthday present from my wife, he passed 2 yrs ago after a mysterious illness. Jack was typical Jack Russell - grouchy at times, fiercely loyal, fearless except when it came to loud noises.

Second is Kiah - she's our 12 yr old Mini Australian Shepherd. Smart, loving, always ready to play and tireless.

Betty is our second Pembroke Corgi, having had her uncle Griffin for 12 years.. She is a very strong-minded girl and brilliant family dog. Friendly with everyone but the vet, who recently downgraded her from "F" for Feral to "D" for Difficult.

This is Rusty, the Australian Shepherd. He is without a doubt the smartest dog I've ever owned. He's 11 now, and slowing down a bit. I don't know how many more years we have together, but I do know it's gonna be a heart breaker when he goes. (And yeah, those eyes... I got first pick of the litter and those eyes were what clinched it.)

My 10 year old Aussie, Benny (3rd one -great breed). I can either buy a second bass, or a new knee for Benny this year - I’ll get the bass some other time ...

I found a pic of Griffin, Betty's great uncle several generations removed. He was our friend, security guard and therapist for 12 years.

We lost our dog last winter. Nancy (with the laughing face) was my constant companion and was our son's first friend. It was, as it always is, devastating, but with dogs, it is easy to love again. We started over last summer with Jillian. She's sweeter than I ever imagined that a dog could be and she's quite the looker! She's not sure what to think about the bass yet, though.
