I have a bass with Maple fingerboard, there is some wood...I do not even know if it is grain,

I like those light and dark flecks and sripes found in some maple. My Ray34 has something similar:

It has some on the back too, along with the occasional bird-eye and the merest hint of quilting:

Here it is. I don't know what happened at Fender that day but this is a really nice bass. (Edit: It's a MIM)

Some times, a MIM Fender p bass can be a real gem.
I have a 2015 MIM p bass maple neck on a part’s bass and all I can say is it’s perfect. Straight and stable like a high quality neck with a truss rod that works perfectly.
It’s actually my favorite and most played bass !
