It took me a while realize that he was using a Sire. I know some will say they can tell a difference in tone, but I really doubt if anyone blindfolded would be able to tell he wasn't using a Fender. Just the man and an amp, and he sounds like the doggone record! It also humbling to remember he was 21 or 22 when he recorded those classic lines for Luther Vandross. Roberta Flack took him away from junior college and put him on a major tour for a reason.
 
Nice. A lot of folks like to rag on Marcus over him slapping all the time but don't realize he's got some serious chops. Plus plays multiple instruments very well.
The only way a person owns a resume like Marcus Miller is because that person is a huge talent. Like any true great achiever, Marcus Miller is a combination of great talent and great work ethic. I laugh at people simple enough to doubt his ability.
