Marcus Miller's tourbus crash outside Zurich

Yeah, saw that on the news too... Seems like there have been a lot of deaths like this lately, but when I think back, there have been in music's history.

My prayers today include Marcus Miller. I am so sad this happened. He has been a huge influence of mine for years, since 1974 or 75. I didn't know he is 2 years younger than me ??!!

He was a monstrous bass player in his teens, because I was 16 or 17 when I first started listening to him. Flora Purim was one of the 1st I think.

Anyway, I pray to God that he will recover quickly along with his band. Prayers also to those who were lost.

I'm pretty sure you weren't hearing Marcus Miller on any recordings until 1978 or 1979. Regardless of when you heard him, I am glad that he is still alive and AFAIK, he can still play. We are all delicate and death is never far away!

Oh Yeah - We need Marcus around for a long time. Best wishes to him and all involved.

I heard an hour interview with him on XM radio a while back and it was fascinating listening to him telling of his life as a bass player. He sounds like an incredibly cool guy as well as a great musician.

Louis Cato's Facebook note - seems like he has a couple of broken ribs, so the injuries may be a bit more than "minor".

Louis is a magnificent drummer and a beautiful guy, I love playing with him whenever I get the chance (he's a busy guy). he's actually also a pretty impressive bass player, too.

Still very tragic for all involved. Even if the players are ok physically, the memory of that will continue to bother them and they still need support well after the accident. My condolences to the family of the Bus driver.
