Oh, this was beyond funny. Your so darn funny,......."Gaydar".....how damn funny.
You know, people used to call me gay alot back in the day, to which I responded "Yes I am, do you have a problem with that man?".

Back on topic, I live in Lousiana, but still do not know how to spell it, so sue me. I have not gone to Madri Gras AKA "The cess pool of socity" for many reasons. I would rather always be in control of myself, rather than "Loose myself" for one weekend in hell.(I have been there many times, just not for Mardi Gras) Give me North Lousiania ANY day.

BigWill - I don't think SUV's and Starbucks can be compared to women voluntarily making sluts of themselves. MTV and celebrity boxing are something else though...

Don't be so quick to judge. You evidently do not know any of these girls or you wouldn't be attacking them. What gives you the right to call them sluts? So they're proud of their bodies-who cares? Why should these "sluts" be attacked for allowing themselves a good time?

I understand your sentiment, I don't particularly like the whole Mardi Gras bit. But I think you're being a tad judgemental.

The women aren't making sluts of themselves, but they are shedding a few inhibitions in anticipation of Lent. The girls in New Orleans are just out there to have a good time, and I think all of them are well aware of what is going to be yelled at them during Mardi Gras.

Also, I think it's a bit of a double standard. If a guy were to walk around New Orleans in a speedo or bondage gear, people would probably give him a few weird looks but they probably wouldn't scorn him. He's showing off a lot more skin than a girl does when she flashes the people at Mardi Gras, yet the guy wouldn't be called a "man-whore".

Actually, that wouldn't really get many wierd looks on a normal day. On Fat Tuesday, that would almost be considered a conservative costume on many blocks of the French Quarter.

I consider flashing people for worthless trinkets being slutty. Regardless if it's being judgemental or not I don't care because it is the opinion I hold. Guys who do the same thing are equally as bad. So, for example, the girls in Girls Gone Wild aren't being sluts? How is that any different from Mardi Gras? I don't think its a matter of being proud of their bodies its a matter of wanting to get cheap meaningless thrills.

I've been biting my tongue on this one. Really I'd rather see these women keep their clothes on. However I don't think it's in a Christian person's best interest to call people hurtful names. Just simply because it harms the Christian's testimony. How could you share your testimony with someone you just called a slut? Wasn't it Jesus who said "Let he who is without sin......

It's all about LOVE!!

Although I really dont post here anymore at all, I feel I must give my own personal opinion as to the women revealing their breasts for beads...

Do you consider nude beaches evil? Everyone there is "revealing themselves", yet generally sexuality is the last thing on their minds. When was it determined that all types of nudity was bad? I could see that with the american media, one could believe that violence=good, but nudity=bad simply because at primetime (around 8pm) you can watch a tv movie on national television, and witness a person being killed execution (sp?) style (example: lastnight Con Air was on ABC durring primetime), but they are so quick to edit out a scene with nudity in it because they feel it may "damage" the minds of young children. Personally if I were a parent, I'd prefer my son looking at a pair of breasts than of a man getting his head blown off.

Back on topic... The whole point of Mardi Gras is to "get out all your sin" and prepair for lent, a time of peace. You're supposed to be able to do what you want, act how you please, and not be judged for it. Part of that may be people acting out their guilty pleasures, and if that includes being an exhibitionist, or voyeur, let them do thier thing, it's what mardi gras is about. Now, if it became an everyday thing, and they went home with new partners every night, maybe then you could pass judgment.

Bascily I see how you could make that judgment, and maybe you just had a more conservitive up bringing, but me, I was raised in Berkeley... and I never saw nudity as a bad thing, and that just because they're "revealing" themselves doesn't mean that they're gonna go line up a group of guys and have sex with all of them....

Alright, I've said my piece, back to lurker mode for me.
