Mark Bass CMD102P ?

I truly can't think of another other than the Hartke kickback combos.

That’s my thoughts as well. I have a Greenboy fEARless F112 which can sit like a monitor but thst requires carrying an amp and extra cables which I’m trying to avoid.
I never liked Mark Bass sound but I haven’t heard one in probably more than 10 years. I don’t know what model but I bought a new 12” combo from GC, kept it for 2 days and returned it. I just didn’t care for the sound. If I recall correctly it was considerably less than 300 watts and that may have been the problem.

My current amp list is Mesa 800D, Mesa TT800, Trace Elliott Elf, Woodring WA2T700, Eden DC112XLT, and a Phil Jones BG120 Bass Cub Pro.
I’m thinking about putting the Mesa TT800 in the classifieds and getting a second 800D.

I've gone through a lot of brands and I'm hooked on Ashdown. I've recently downsized to an older Mi bass 12 cab (I have two but in different locations) and an RM 300 head. Very powerful combo and easy to carry around. As far as your needing a kickback situation, I don't know... Use a wedge or stand?

I just remembered after the markbass went back I stuck with an Ampeg BA-210. it just sounded better, hit harder, and cost like 10-15% what the markbass did.

Great but doesn’t have the angled side to set it up like a floor wedge.

I've had both versions of the CMD102P and I think the current model from Indonesia is just fine. This sort of correlates to my view of Indonesian made basses which I have gained a huge amount of respect for in the past few years. Excellent setup and QC straight out of the box, and the inherent cheaper prices make them a great value.

As for the CMD102P itself, I love the versatility of using it as a stage monitor with the tilt back capability. The two deep holes in the back are great for storing cables and small things. The Indonesian version is a few pounds lighter than the original, making it even better for grab-n-go portability for gigs. The 58R head is great with all the control knobs on the front, although I do wish the effects loop and XLR line out plugs were on the back. I am hoping to perhaps switch out different MB heads since they all seem to have the same form factor.

Sweetwater just recently started selling MarkBass products, but it looks like they are backordered for the CMD102P combo. I was able to get mine on sale 25% off from MF, which I think is still going on.

Yes, noticed the sale today, and even at this hour it still is there. May get another extension cab, undecided, but this is the current best price (other than regular Sweetwater prices, which are lower even without discounts.) Some are 20% off, most are 25%.

My MB58R CMD 102 PURE is truly *amazing*, but OP can only use the CMD102P V because of his unique requirements. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it in his position, I think Cort-Tek makes them for Markbass? Those Indonesian factories make fine stuff, and I would buy it if I was prepared to spend on it.

The only current "con" with Indonesia cabs is the weight-they are not heavy by any means, but the new MB58R enclosures are even lighter. Nevertheless, due to this sale I am contemplating getting one of the Traveler models, still unsure as to what to do.

Will never hear me complaining about their sound, this stuff is great even leaving everything at noon, and with vintage all the way off (I am referring to the latest newest Little Mark head-unfortunately never got on board with the brand until very recently, so I do not know what I am missing that was available in the earlier models.) And though not cheap, for me the pricing is not extreme. I am a fan now.

I have 2 tiltback cabs and several heads. I want a combo so I don’t need to carry an amp and cables for it.
It’s pretty obvious that no one ever reads the whole thread before making suggestions. It’s like herding cats.

Well, I have a CMD102P and it isn’t all that small, especially when tilted back.i hear ya about carrying an amp and cable but if space is a premium your fearful is likely a little smaller.

If you got deep pockets and a strong back the Phil Jones Roadcase is about the most powerful combo for a tight stage, and the top two drivers are angled for your pleasure and they sit about belly button high.

Honestly, I’m sure the CMD102 will be just fine. I like mine for small gigs and practice, it’s just so light and nimble. The tweeter can be annoying if you don’t like sizzle, the VLE control helps with that but it impacts your tone more than a tweeter pad would. For what it is I love mine.

Good luck! Definitely spring for the cover, keep that carpet tight.

Hey guys, as you know I ordered the Mark Bass CMD 102P combo for my weekly gig, but I’ve had a lot of second thoughts about it for two reasons. (1) I’ve never liked the sounds of Mark Bass amps/speakers, and (2) I can’t try one out. My options have pretty much run out until today.

Today I visited GC with my MTD LK5 (5 string) with intentions of trying out some powered PA cabs. I’ve read on here where many guys have gone that way and are very happy with the results.
First up was the QSC CP12. It sounded pretty good but it didn’t have enough punch.
Second was a RCF ART 915A. I thought this with over 1000 watts and a 15” would be killer but it was no better than the CP12.
Next I tried the QSC K12.2 and it was flat awesome. Very loud, punchy and articulate. The best part was the uniform volume across the fretboard. Even the low B string at high volume didn’t breakup.

I ended up cancelling the Mark Bass CMD 102P and ordered the QSC K12.2. I’m pumped because I believe I finally found a great fit for this venue. Just add in the Pi Stomp with a cab sim and I’ll be good to go.

You may have read about this option but never considered it. You should try it out. You’ll be amazed.

I'm in your area, and just sold a mint Indonesian CMD 102P to someone who came up from Nashville to grab it. I literally had to give it away ($600). Not sure why....but I had been trying to unload it for years with no luck.

Not a big Markbass fan......I think you made the right decision.

Whether it was a totally right decision remains to be seen, but canceling the MB was a right decision.

Hope it works out great for you! I have considered "FRFR" speakers for a while-and do have my Sansamp no and preamp pedals too-but I feel I can still treat my current Markbass combo as a powered cab (and indeed will do as needed) for even my guitars. It sounds excellent and weights nothing, but it doesn't tilt back, thus why I never recommended it for your particular situation. I am not all-in for FRFR speakers yet, BUT most of our needs and wants will be different, and am glad there is almost always a high quality product out there to suit our desires in our current age. Hope the QSC speaker suits you well and makes you happy.
