Anybody know anything about it? I really want a seafoam green P and I think this may be the easiest way. I was gonna buy it and put a tone pot and J pickguard on it w/ a control plate. But lets get some reviews.

Okay, I may be the only one who thinks so, but one of the beauties of this bass is no tone pot, NO TONE POT.. What simple genius. All the signal from the pup goes to the amp. Need tone control? See those knobs on the pre-amp? Those are more sophisticated and are what you should really be using anyway. I'll head back to my cave now....
I like the Hoppus a lot. I needed a battle ax for a biker party last year, and one pickup with one knob sounds pretty indestructible. I was going to build something very similar myself, but I couldn't get a P-bass body for the $350.00 I spent on Ebay for the complete Hoppus.
I bought the thing to abuse. No way I was taking my Ric to an outdoor party with a bunch of drunken bikers! I needed a bass I don't care about.
The funny thing is, the more I play it, the more I like it. It has great tone with the right set of strings on it. I prefer 1/2 rounds but flats would rock the house on this bass as well. I found round wounds to be very harsh and clangy with the SD PUP. So with a well worn set of half round strings on it, I pretty much run my amp flat and it has a great tone. Deep ballsy lows and enough high end to make it cut through. I've been gigging the Hoppus almost exclusively all winter. There's just a certain something.
I say if you're interested in one, get it. Try it out for a month or two before you make any mods. You just might be as surprised by it as I was.

apparently he's playing a newer version of it, has an ash body and the pickup has been switched so the D and G coil is further toward the neck then the E and A coil. I haven't seen any pictures so it might juts be wikibollocks.

I love mine, it's in Daphne Blue. Gets the job done in 90% of situations. For the other 10%, I use a Jazz.
Agreed. All of those pastel 50's colors should be readily available, if you ask me.
Should be great, as long as you're OK with a P pickup in a J body.

I snagged a shell pink when they came out for $350.00? great bass, switched the pick-up out for a vintage 62, added a no load tone & a 3 hole jazz plate w/ customizable pickgaurd.
I'd like to try the newer reverse pick-up version.I own a few bass's w/reverse P's & I
like them alot! Big thick sound on all strings. Imo a much better layout for a P pick-up

The only thing that identifies it is the neck. That says Precision Bass. IMHO that makes it a P.
Daphne Blue is listed as a highway one color this year. Hmmm... I've been wanting a highway one jazz.
