So when did he start moving away from playing the JD supernatural to Alembics?

I especially love "the Early Tapes" and the first album with "Turn it on" and "Starchild". Love that Jaco influenced bassline on "Chinese Way" as well.

Mark King is the bomb, his finger style aswell as his slap are well done on his songs. Best bass player in Europe

I wouldn't say that, there's lots of others who are at least at his level - but he's among the best.

Well, I don't know if I would go that far! I saw Mark live almost two years ago. While his technique is impressive (to say the least!), most stuff he played was completely unmemorable. I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor when he did a slap solo in the middle of 'Running In The Family', but I was more impressed by the chops on display than by any musicality.

Nick Beggs is a guy who comes to mind.... I've seen a clinic the guy put on, and I think he's on King's level....just different.
