MarkBass 210P w/ Skunk Smell?

Hey Gang,

I just purchased a MB 210P from GC and it has a really bad "skunk" smell. I thought maybe it would go away after a couple of days, but it's still stinking up my apartment after 5 days. I tried Febreeze and Lysol and they worked for about an hour and the smell took over again.

Has anyone else ever had this problem with an amp of any kind and what did you do to get rid of the smell? I thought keeping it in the garage for a couple of days would help, but now my garage smells like a skunk lives in there... :crying:

I'm thinking about taking the amp back this weekend, because my girlfriend can't even come into my place without wanting to puke.

Update: Called GC and they told me that they'd never heard of anything like that and they want me to bring it back today for a replacement. I did get in a few good nights of practice, since the girlfriend wouldn't come over due to the smell. :)

I got a UL112 that has some potent odor. I think it's the chemicals in the carpeting. This one came drop shipped. My other cab was from a dealer and didn't have the smell.

I had to put the UL in the laudry room while I was trying to do some work on a Saturday cuz if was killing me.

I should air out afte a couple days.

I was in GC the other day here in GA and I thought someone had been "expanding their mind" in the back or something and when I inquired as to the odor, they said it was the new markbass cabs (I think they said it was MB anyway) It was the same with my new chong-bass 2x12, lol. I'd like to see that logo....

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the particular woods that any of my esteemed colleges may use. I am not saying that any of them are bad or do bad things.

I do know that some woods will secrete a bad smelling sap. I learned this the hard way long before I started Aguilar. I had a number of road cases made by a local NYC company. They smelled like vomit! Trust me, it was bad. Whenever I opened my road cases, people looked funny at me. Probably why I had to get out of the business and start an amp company! ;)
I used industrial deoderant that smelled like Oranges. I helped a little, but the smell never went away.

The smell goes away, it`s just bad the first days, now I can`t smell it anymore. Perhaps I`m poisoned?:D
Love the sound of the cab though!!
