MarkBass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin

I have 2 custom built rickenbackers and I have been using my old faithful Harke SA5000 with a 4 x 10 cab.., Well, I got tired of lugging this around to different rehearsals and auditions, so I wenot out and just got my new MARKBASS, Jeff Berlin 1 X 15", combo amp, because of its lightweight composite material construction, (much stronger and lighter than wood).

I must say, I was sold the minute the salesman haned me over the bass plugged into the floor model..., totally awesome amp!! Very clean tone, I would say "perfect tone", if there were such a thing, this has it!!

I now have it running my 4 x 10 cab without the old Hartke and it sounds very clean, no hum or buzz, and it has the necessary power to compete with any other amps out there.

I am going to stick with this amp for a while, very happy with the truly outstanding tone and volume levels!!

hey guys,

I'm a little bit off topic here but...
I had a CMD121p for five years. Played 200+ gigs with it. It's a great combo and very reliable, but I didn't like the harsh piezo tweeter. So I disconnected it and went straight from the amp to the 12" speaker and that made it sound even better, more responsive, less "boxy". It's easy: open up the grill, remove the speaker and connect the cable coming from the amp to the speaker (you can plug the loose connector to the crossover). I really recommend doing this: it makes this little combo even better sounding.

Did you bypass the crossover completely or just unplug the tweeter?

A little help here fellas. I'm a guitarist of 42 years and play only blues jams two to three times a week and a once a month get together with friends. While I have been toying with bass since 1992, never at the blues jams, but I always seem to spend a lot of time on bass at our friendly jams. I have a 1976 Fender Musicmaster and an Acoustic B30 amp. I decided to get serious about playing bass so for Christmas I bought a SBMM Ray34ca and I plan on playing some bass at the blues jams in the near future. I went to GC today to check out some amps and I plugged into a MarkBass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin. I really like this amp and the sound/tone was fantastic. At $1099.00 it's in my price range. I really love the size and weight of this amp. Any pros or cons anyone who's played or owns one can add. Maybe an opinion on another amp I should try before I buy?
Thanks

I had one and loved it. Loud light and toneful. Only sold it to try different stuff . It was great out of the box. I search for "my sound" a bit with my new stuff...

I bought the Players School amp but returned it and got the CMD 151p Jeff Berlin.

I started looking at the TC and GK light wieght combos. They were amazing amps for the money. I liked both amps but tried the Players School. It just seemed like it was in a different league quality wise. It was plenty loud for the studio too but I didn't think it would hold up in a bar. I'm in school at the moment and not playing out regularly but I do get calls on occasion to fill in and I really needed something that would get the job done. I had the Hartke HA5500 with the 4.5xl cab but it was prohibitively difficult to move.

So far I'm loving this amp although I haven't taken it out yet. I feel pretty confident it will get the job done. It was a pretty big step up from the $400 TC amp but in the end I think I will be much more satisfied.
