Markbass CMD121p....COMBO!

I've been looking at this combo amp for over a year. Was gonna buy a new one but a stonkin' deal came across on a used one.
It's in great shape, it's light and compact. And it sounds solid. Lots of power and the VLE, VPF filters that I craved. I'm happy and will be happier next rehearsal.

I bought mine new in 2008 so I’ve had it now for over 17 years. I have used it alone or added my matching NY121 extension cab when needed and have had zero issues with it. I more than likely have over 1000 gigs and rehearsals on it over so many years. It’s never failed me. Having gone to compact amp modeling pedalboards direct to FOH these days I only use it occasionally now for a rehearsal or at home but I’d never part with it. I’ve used a lot of comparable combos and the Markbass never ceases to amaze me at the ease of finding tone, volume and longevity.

That's great to hear. This one was built in 2020. I purchased a LittleMark lll in 2009 and after many hours of heavy use, it finally gave up the ghost. I've missed it and to be able to get another one in combo form was my wish.
I am very pleased with its tone and output. I still can't think of anything at its price point that competes with it. A wonderful little unit.

I already owned an LM3 when a secondhand CMD121P came up for sale locally for a good price, so I bought it out of curiosity mainly.
However, it was so capable that it became one of my gigging set ups after I bought a secondhand NY121P, once again mostly out of curiosity. I mean, how good can these tiny cubes be? Well, the answer is really, really good. Combined, they could handle just about all but my largest gigs with ease.
It was only after my CMD121P developed a fault (cracked speaker output connector solder joints) that I decided to replace it with another NY121P so I could gig my LM3 with both cabs.
Over the years I've owned many of the larger Markbass cabs, including the brilliant STD104HF, not so brilliant (IMO) STD106HR (which in its defence, may have suffered with some kind of phase cancellation problem after I had to rewire it; oops!), and a pair of TRV121H.
I now only have three; a TRV102P which is brilliant for bar sized gigs, and the two NY121P for larger venues with inconvenient, complicated load ins/outs.
I'd recommend taking your CMD121P and NY121P (if that’s one of your 12s?) (a physically smaller rig than your two TRV102P with head) to your next rehearsal or gig, it's an amazing set up that punches way above its diminutive size with plenty of controlled low end at volume.
If you don't already own a NY121P, I think I know what your next Markbass purchase could be. (-;

I blew the tweeter in mine in less than 5 minutes popping the G string. Otherwise I really liked it.
I disconnected the cheep tweeter the first week I had the combo. I found it both unnecessary and shrill sounding.
I had a 2nd markbass cab (121h) that had an adjustable titanium horn. It was also a larger cab than the combo or the NY cab,
so it seemed to have a bit fuller bass sound as well as a much smoother treble. I used that rig for over a decade without any issues.

Lol! My other MarkBass 12" is the 121HR. Look it up on the MarkBass website. It's a 400 watt with 1" voice coil tweeter that can sit angled as a monitor or in conventional position.
I've not ever seen another one out there. It was a sleeper that was discontinued before I could get a second one. But I've used it solo with a MarkBass head and it sounds great.
It is physically larger than the CMD 121p so not a perfect stack. I may pickup a NY121p if the combo doesn't cut my needs but I'm not sure I'm gonna need it. They say Leo got the Fender bass right the 1st time.
I think Marco got the CMD121p right the 1st time. This little guy has remained popular for decades.

I respect what you're saying but I have to say I don't find the tweeter offensive at all and it has good snap, IMHO.
The 121H was a real nice cab. I wish it was still available and I'd imagine the tweeter used was sweeter.

No worries, I was using a Tech21 vt pedal, and just preferred to get the full range from the 12” speakers.
And I almost always kept the horn on a very low setting.
