Markbass Combo Question

Hi! A quick question... I have a Markbass CMD 210P, I'm thinking in selling it and getting a Markbass Mini CMD121P... I need something lighter, I don't have a car and I need something light so that I can just carry it with me on the subway, the CMD210, it's just a bit too big.

The main question is, will I lose a lot of power? with the CMD 210 I have more than enough power for the gigs I usually do, I never have to go more that half way in volume. The thing sound great, I just need something even lighter.

I think you will lose some volume just due to less speaker and cab volume. Your amp will be the same, but the 12" speaker can't handle or put out as much oomph as two 10s. BUT, depending on how much you need you might be fine. It certainly will be a more manageable package. Think about what your volume requirements are. Can you go try out a 121P?

You'll probably need another 112 cab to go with it. You might want to just get the LMKIII head and maybe the 102P cab. It doesn't have the lows that the the 210 combo has b/c it's a little smaller cab but it'll probably do better than a single 12. Or just get a folding hand truck.

I've had that combo and I am friends with a pro bassist locally who uses that combo exclusively. He loves it. My .02 is that it should work fine as long as your expectations are realistic. Small, medium venue... sure. Anything larger without PA support forget it.

Put that sucker on a hand cart and you are good to go. Its probably the best choice, in terms of power, for a combo of its size.

But he already has the CMD102P combo. He should just get a folding hand cart and a good cover for it (if he doesn't already have one).

^ The 210 is significantly larger than the 112. I can see why it would be difficult to move the 210 combo around on the subway.
