Markbass combo stopped working with active bass

Today a strange thing happened while playing on my markbass combo (2010 cmd 121)

I have a bass with a active/passive switch, that I play passive 99% of the time. When I switched to active mode, however, I had no sound coming from the amp. Yet everything works in passive mode.

Changed my bass' battery (seemed the most logical explanation), yet still no sound from the markbass.

So I tried another amp (pjb bass cub) and on this amp the bass works just fine in active and passive mode.

The only other active bass I have is a warwick acoustic, with piezo, that works withoutwany issues as well plugged into the Markbass.

Has anyone got any idea what the problem might be?

Sounds like the amp is going into protect mode when your bass is in active mode. Is the bass preamp 9V or 18V? I notice that combo only has one input, and maybe it is set up to only accept a 9V input.

EBS amps have a scheme for powering pedals that would probably work fine for onboard electronics as well. Never messed with it on the HD350 amp I owned briefly, but I think it's a pretty swell idea personally.

In the late Seventies/early Eighties I remote powered the electronic package I built into my ancient Precision from the pre-amp I built. It worked very well indeed.
