Markbass cutting out

I'm having some issues with my MoMark 500 cutting out. It's very occasional, what it does is remains powered on, but nothing coming out, the only fix is to power off then back on and it's once again fine until the next time. Twice at practice the other night, pretty annoying. Do these amps have built in circuit protection?
Anyone else have similar issues?

No crossover in either one?

If not, and if the system is getting the cooling it needs, I'd say the amp is broken or the backplane's gone flaky. But, you might want to try re-seating all the modules, just on the slight chance there's a backplane interconnect problem. (I assume these things do use a backplane.) Check for corrosion, etc. with a flashlight.

I have also had my F500 cut out on me. Unfortunately, it was at a gig where I discovered the problem. Got it home and found that it only happened with one of my cabs??? I have rehearsed and gigged with it since several times since...just not with that one cab.
I can only guess that the protection circuit is very sensitive and something about this cab kicks it in.

I have come across this problem several times with several different Markbass heads, it usually seems to happen when driving the amp front end pretty hard, especially with high output basses and/or pedals increasing the input lvl.

The protection circuit kicks in and mutes the system until you restart it... Some amps seem more prone to this than others, doesn't seem to be any particular models though I've seen it mostly with the LM II and III

I spoke to Markbass but have not yet heard back from them beyond a reply asking what load I was running with the head.

I know two other local players that both experienced the same thing with their MoMark systems. I always thought it had to do with the backplane and the connections to the modules. That whole design just doesn't seem to make sense with a piece of equipment that will be moved and jossled around. It's a fine design for stationary network type equipment but in a bass amp? I question Markbass' engineering on that one. Your problem could be something else though like some of the others have suggested here...

Both local guys ended up selling their MoMark systems at a loss and one went with a LMT800 while the other found a GK Fusion 550.

I know of many more local guys who use LMII/III's and they have IME been solid. Very few problems. I have a LMT800 and F500. Both have been perfect for me.

Probably because they're waiting for an answer from you to their question, lol, because to them, that's the crux of the matter. It's always been my suspicion that MB heads don't suffer certain reactive loads well, and this could be the first particle of evidence that this is in fact the case.
