Markbass Mini CMD 121P combo addition?

Hi guys,

I know this is an old thread but I will give it a go

These are my tools: Mini CMD 121P + Fender Jazz Elite V. I mainly play Jazz, Blues, Soul, some Rock. I love playing some low Ebs and Ds and I was thinking of adding a Traveler 151P to boost the lows and see if I can get a more vintage tone.

Any of you has got experience with that combination?

The Traveler 151P will no doubt work fine with the CMD121P combo but I'd still recommend the NY121P cab as a better match. There's no reason the 15 will give you a more vintage tone; you may need to add more colored pre amp pedal for that, such as a Tech 21 Sansamp or an Ampeg pedal.

Thanks, so you mean it is better to have two 12' speakers than a combination of 12' + 15'? I also wanted to have a warmer sound, I thought the 15' would give me those extra subs for warmth?

It's generally accepted that using two of the same speaker will work more predictably than mixing different types. I think you will be amazed at how much deeper and louder adding a NY121P makes your CMD121P combo. If your definition of warmth is more depth to the sound then the NY121P will give that for sure. Plus the combo and cab will stack perfectly together; they were designed to work that way, it's a much neater solution. With 500 watts going into the two 12 speakers, I doubt you'll ever need more volume.

I finally got a second hand Traveler 151P cab. I think the difference is massive! I really love the tone. I was going to use it for gigs only but I like so much that I'll use it to practice at home too. Thanks everyone for your comments
