I got the standalone trial version to work. According to Markbass, the thing to do is not to install tpkd. or to remove it if it is installed. I found that if you update tpkd, that works as well, but you have to download it from the site in my post #10 above. Best to try Markbass' way first. BTW, I have an old (2006) XP computer, so if you have Vista or a Mac, I can't be of much help. Also I use Firefox, so whatever problem Clifton has, I can't help with either. From installing it for a friend, I found protools to be such a pain that I never bought it for my own computer. My needs are pretty small, so Audacity works fine for any recording I want to do.

I've sent Markbass an e-mail because I can't get it to work. My guess is that it won't work with Vista. We'll see what they say. I may install it on my wife's laptop that still runs XP.
Mndean, what are you using to connect your bass to your computer? I use the Mbox 2 Mini. In the upper left hand corner there is an options menu in the Markbass software. I assume this is where you tell the software what you are using to plug your bass in? I select the ASIO Digidesign Driver but I get an error message every time.
I think it may be a Vista thing.

I wish I could help you guys out getting it installed but I will encourage you to stick it out, it's got the bass tones I'd been trying to dial in forever. I have a lot of fun tweaking around in Pod Farm, but this is my go to. I knew when I fired up the demo that I had to have it! One thought on the error message when you try to select the driver - make sure your interface is connected and powered up so the driver is active before you select it. Also I had to reboot XP a couple of times after install to make it all happy. Good luck!
I didn't even use a box at all, just the input jack in the back of my computer! My M-audio box quit on me a while ago and I never replaced it since I have a practice amp with stereo inputs so I could play to songs on the computer without needing anything else. I didn't even have a clue whether this would work, but it did. I even got a response about the latency problem from markbass that I'm going to try out tomorrow.
No, I usually do it the other way around. The computer is used as input to the amp to play the music tracks/metronome for practice (I usually practice with headphones so I don't get distracted). I couldn't try the markbass software that way, so I just plugged the bass straight into the line input jack of my computer. I'd done it once before for laughs after my M-audio box died and was surprised it worked. Sound was weak and pretty colorless, but it was better than nothing.
I actually got in touch with MB about this just after they put the demo in their website. I figured out they were using an older version of the Pace software. This was a couple of months ago, i cant believe they didn't fix it.
You do need to un install the InterLok software, no need to un install the MB app. Then download an up to date version of the Interlok software from here http://www.paceap.com/download.html.
Once that's installed it should all work ok.
i'm having issues with the latency.
with guitar rig i can go as low as 3ms but with this software.
however, every setting that goes below 11ms won't give me any sound.
it's unplayable that way.
anyone noticed the same?

I gave up on it after the demo ran out. As good as it was i dont feel its worth the money over things like GR and Amplitube. Too basic compared to the others.
