Markbass ? Why the dislike ?

I have no history with Mark Bass. But I have seen a few treads where people have had issues. I think if your in that market you should at least give them a shot. If the tone is what you want cool. There just isn't much if any MB stuff in the shops around here to try. Besides I've been using GK for so long I'm spoiled.

Ive read that many people dislike their heads andcabs! And that their cabs sound thin
I owned a Littlemark III amp for several years. Loved it. Had zero issues with it. I only traded it to fund other gear. I now own a Littlemark Blackline 250. Gigged it Friday night. Great amp. I have no experience with the cabs though. Mainly because they cost too much for my pockets. A friend owns a couple of NYC112's he uses for an open mic. Rig sounds good to me.

This Markbass Mini CMD 121P / NY 121, works fine for me. No thin sounds, a really good full, deep bass sound here. QC is very good also. I've used a few other Combos, but the Markbass is my choice hands down.

I think they lost a lot of support when they moved the manufacturing from their home in Italy to who knows where now, then they changed to using unknown drivers in their cabinets. Plus the only place you can get them is Guitar Center, which is the most hated place on TalkBass. Their sound seems to be an aquired taste as well.

I personally don't hate them and even considered their 121 cabinets because I love that form factor. But I can't deal with carpet covered cabinets and went the Mesa Boogie route to get much better support and warranty, plus made in the USA for about the same price.

I think they're ugly :vomit: and look like something Stryper would have used for their shtick, but this is the first time I've ever posted that thought. Usually if i don't have something nice to say blah blah, but you did ask

Edit to add > Can't say I've seen or heard of a lot of hate for them. And I'm glad they're out there (like orange), adding color options to the traditional black. I'm waiting on a Purple brand

I've NEVER played thru an amp of any brand and found it to be unusable or, really, even unacceptable. Especially throw in bass eq or eq pedal and voila.

Lots of people like pooping here more than playing. Many people hate many things here. Nothing is unanimously loved, not even Jaco nor Jamerson nor the unquestionbly great new guy named with a J, whoever he may be. These poopie people, and there is no shortage of them making TB frequently inaccurate, frequently are denying their fear of practicing more and facing their own limitations or they are merely pawns in the game of people who want to sell them fake happiness in the form of the perfect equipment.

There are, of course, the real gearhead, scientist types always seeking a true, quantifiable ideal but the vast majority are the first two. Ignore it. Play more bass.

I've had my Littlemark III and two 1x12 New Yorker cabs for quite some time now with never any issues. They sound great, gets good and loud for most club situations and it's super easy to truck around. I love em'!

I dislike their tone. I have tried a lot of mark bass (my neighbouring country is Italy so go figure :P) and I just can't seem to get a good tone out of any of them.

You will never hear me say that I hate Mark Bass or something though. They have great stuff that appeals to many people ranging from low tier to top tier pros (Michael League included) and you can't argue with that.

I personally dislike their tone, the mids are usually too aggressive on their setups for me to find it nice sounding. Nothing objective though.

I sure wouldn't buy one for me, but I would never hesitate to recommend MarkBass to someone who likes their tone and wants one. Great stuff with great quality of their products to boot.
