I just remembered a pic that Anthony Wellington posted on Facebook this morning. It was a photo of some basses he owns. In particular, I wanted to try digging around for information on his Marleaux Consat Soprano & came across this thread.
I seem to remember watching a YouTube video of Victor Wooten & Steve Bailey playing a couple of these together. I can't seem to find a North American price listed anywhere, but in Europe both Musik Schmidt and Thomann have them listed at 1,499 Euro.
According to the Marleaux website, the basses are setup as a piccolo bass E-A-D-G (guitar range). However, each Sopran comes with an octaver, which allows you to drop back down to bass territory whenever you want. There's a demo on the Marleaux website that shows the Soprano in action.
This is a very cool little instrument. I'm sort of wondering who in North America would stock these.
