Marshall 3530 silver jubilee - matching set

i could not find much info on this beast, but I fell in love today. I placed this rig on layaway. 3530 Marshall Silver Jubilee rig. Can someone please tell me more about it. I know it’s SS. And it’s 300 watts. I’ve not seen very many of these. I’ve got more experience with ampeg and SWR...been hoping to find a nice rig for a while.

The amp is a beast when it's working. I used to play on one at an open mic regularly and then it was gone, too unreliable according to the owner. He was a full time working musician so it might have been 2 strikes and gone.

His cab was the 410. It was a mystery to me how it could weigh so much while containing air.

Ive been reading up on the Marshall SS Amps and it looks as if many solid state Marshall’s out there suffer from weak soldering points on the inputs and capacitors. Either way, it looks like a nice rig and I’m super excited to pay it off... it’s definitely classy looking!

Curious if you picked this up? How's it sound? I ask as after searching for a while, I finally found one this morning and it's on the way to my house...

It arrived today! A little beat up through the years, but sounds really sweet. The eq controls are very responsive in that just a little movement on one tweaks the sound notably. The fan is a little loud. Doesn't come through the speakers, and ultimately a nonissue. But I wonder if it needs adjustment. I need to get my Rick out, but on Fender '59 Relic P bass, it sounds very full.

I can happily report that a Rick 4003 sounds equally if not even more amazing. Louder, and certainly fuller with both pickups engaged. With the gain on the amp at around 10:00, a really sweet growl.

I can also advise that run in stereo, with a Marshall 20w Jubilee guitar head for treble pickup, and said 3530 for bass pickup, it ROCKS!!! And objectively speaking, still in NAD bliss, compounded by 6 months of trying to find one these 3530's, having never run any bass in stereo before now, not hearing this amp in the band mix, and running with only low to moderate volume - this is the best amp in the history of eVer. Again, just my objective opinion.

It's a great amp head, mine had dry solder points on the pots, fixed for around $150australian dollars. Hang onto it, have owned SVT and the 3530 is way better. I've found that keeping it more open the fan hardly comes on, my settings as follows: the 3 bass knobs at 930-10 o'clock/ the two mid knobs at 11oclock/ the presence at 12oclock (0) and the treble at 11oclock. That's been the best result in the amp not working to hard and getting hot which kicks the fan off, rarely comes on, but will replace it soon with something quieter just the same.

I may have found someone to replicate a silver jubilee cab/case. Hoping for the best.

Just grabbed this beast a few days ago. Still kinda shocked that I was able to get one in my possession. I had a DBS 7200 that I donated to a friend and have been wanting to get another Marshall back in the fold.

I find that this amp is very comparable to a GK 400, 700, 800RB but, with a touch of something in the top end. I think the secret to using this amp is understanding how to use the gain and mid controls. I'm looking to get a Marshall guitar preamp to mount into the top rack and bypass one of the power preamps (A or B), thus using one for high grit and bass low-end.

I'm not holding my breath for a matching cab but, if I come across a 215 or 410 DBS cab -- I'll happily pay the money to have it redone in silver tolex.

I purchased a 3530 back in the early ‘90s from a bandleader and gigged it almost every week for years. Put it aside after 10 years of continuous service and used it occasionally until last year. Just sold it because of the weight (bad back). It served me very well for quite a long time and hated to see it go. The only issue I ever had with the amp was cleaning the pots occasionally, as the fan was doing it’s job quite well. High fidelity tone with a bit of growl when pushed on the front end. Sounded very good through a pair of Aguilar 112 cabs I still own. Picking up a very light Aguilar class D amp when I have the money to replace the Marshall.

They are very heavy. Like in the high wattage tube amp range of heavy. It has a response somewhat like a GK amp but, can get wooly and vintage sounding if dialed correctly. The thing to remember is that dual power amps versions have five separate gain stages. It's very easy to get the amps to break up running a single 8-ohm cab into each power amp and cranking the gain.

My 3560 weighs closer to 75 lbs in the original head case. It's a great sounding amp but, I mostly use it at home or for great paying gigs that require a bit more visual flair.
