Marshall DBS 7412

I do own a Marshall MA50H with 2 cabs for guitar. If I didn't already own Ampeg and Fender , I would have gone with a Marshall Bass Rig.The rig you are looking does look killer... Marshall seems to be more popular still in Europe, most of the sites I got were in German, etc. Still the Marshall site is fun to look at. ................................:)

Anybody own a Marshall DBS 7412 4x12 Bass Cabinet that can show me a picture of the back of it, and/or tell me what kind of connections it has on it? The Marshall site mentions Speakon connectors, but I don't know if they also have 1/4 inch inputs or not. The info and photos I've found online have been very limited, including here on TB. I have an old Trace head that only has XLR and 1/4 speaker outputs, and was wondering if this cab would work with my head. Might need a custom-made speaker cable with an XLR connection on one end and a Speakon on the other? Haven't seen too many people in my searches mention the 7412 cab, but hopefully an owner of one will see this and can assist me. Thanks!

The Marshall DBS series came in two flavors. The 7200 and the 7400.

ANY of the 7400 series combos will only have speakon connections. The 7200 has 1/4 inch jacks. You can buy a speakon to 1/4 adapter, and they work well.

I own a 4x10, 1x15 and a 2x10 with both a DBS 7400 x 2 and 7200.

Awesome, thanks for the help kaputsport, I appreciate it! I saw that Marshall Heritage link the other night when I was trying to research the cab I'm considering, which is 7412 4x12 cabinet listed on that site, but the info on Marshall's site was kind of vague as to whether or not it also had 1/4 inch inputs or just the Speakons, and I couldn't find any pictures of the back of a 7412 cabinet when I did a google image search...the cab at the top of this page:

Now that you told me the 7412 only has Speakon connection(s), I guess I just need to find out if A, I will be fine running out of the 1/4 inch output on an old high power Trace head (that doesn't have Speakons) into the 7412 cabinet with the proper adaptor or special cable, or if B, I can purchase a custom speaker cable with an XLR cable on my amp end and a Speakon connector on the cabinet end...I say this, because from my research, I've found that it is supposedly not a good idea to use 1/4 inch outs/ins if running more than 500 watts from an amp (and this amp is 1200 watts mono at 2 ohms(or 600 watts a side stereo), and I forget what at 4 ohms and 8 ohms...then again, why would they have included 1/4 inch outs if it wasn't safe
