A coupe summers ago in college I spent a month meticulously transcribing all of the bass playing for the album What's Going On by Marvin Gaye. A combination of the late James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt, this is a classic album of sophisticated bass mastery and I hope others can find it as useful and inspiring as I have.

  2. Awesome Christian, probably Jamerson's, Babbit's and Motown's best work. Listening to the guys on Standing In The Shadows of Motown talk about Babbit and Jamerson's work on that album was inspiring.
  3. Heh. I know this doesn't help you, but I will be learning this song using the Rocksmith video game. Just downloaded it a few weeks ago.

Wow. That's has to be the most accurate transcription of any I've seen. I followed it all the way through with the recording. Did you slow it down to get all the syncopated rhythms?
