Hello, I just recently picked up this amazing Pensa Fretless.
1996 Mas Hino build
Solid Koa body
Brazilian rosewood fretboard
Fralin Pickups and original Pensa Pre
The bass is definitely something special, it speaks in a way no other fretless Ive ever played has.
I would love to see some other Hino builds Pensa or otherwise?
Thanks.
- Tom

Mas for me is definitely the Go To guy when I need anything done on my basses in NYC. As for his builds they are getting really interesting. I believe saw him build a 32' scale last year and it looked really cool!

oh I'm jealous

I have 18 fretless basses - all high-end or custom Fodera Sad Worp Ps Js

I remember about 10 yrs ago in Rudy's (I was DB shopping at Gage's & Kolstein's with $8k in my pocket) played a white 4 sting Pensa and it was the nicest FEELING frteless

awesome thin neck - it played itself

always wished I had dropped the $3k - they are rare & special

Mas Hino is not only a dear friend, he is masterful at what he does. He has done several refrets and grind/polishes for me, as well as various mods and repairs. His work is of the highest quality. I very enthusiastically recommend him for any and everything regarding bass and guitar work. I don't play Pensa basses, but I have played them, and while he was building them, the quality was on par with the best of the best. I am so happy he is finally getting proper recognition here.
