Matching headstock/body color.

I'm a young sport in this game(been playing for a month), and I'm not a hot shot player, by far. But when it comes to bass guitars I have one very important demand - and that is for the headstock and body to have the same color

Am I the only one concerned by such estetiques?

Everyone knows that painted headstocks contribute to neck dive.

While I do enjoy a nice color-matched headstock, I don't think the look is right for every bass. YMMV.

For some basses it may not be. Just take a look at the 50th anniversary fender jazz bass - matching body/headstock color in all it's prosperity!

only looks good on basses with rosewood necks IMO

maple necks with matching headstocks are pretty much bleh...except for the Fender Precision Specials from the early 80's. Those always look nice.

I really only like matched headstocks with rosewood (or other dark wood) fingerboards. Even then, it depends on the bass.

Based on your name, I'd think you might prefer skull shaped headstocks.

I think my trans orange MM SR4H with matching headstock has better punch and attack than any non-matching equivalent.

nah all jokes aside I like them too and both of my basses have them.

Nah- I've been playing for 15 years now, and I'm more picky about looks than ever. I figure that since I'm getting closer to death/immobility, there's no reason to not get exactly what I want while I still have the ability to use it

It can work with rosewood:
One natural here, with neck-through/stringers, and one with blue body & matching blue headstock.

Yeah, matching headstocks are generally cool, especially with rosewood boards, and should be more common. With lighter colors they can even look cool with maple boards. Fender should have more matching headstocks generally, and not reserve them for special runs. They're optional on every USA G&L instrument, and I believe all MusicMans as well.

I'm a sucker for a matching headstock too, and I've been at it 35 years. It's not just a noob thing.

I own a cheap PJ bass with a matching headstock(which is quite weird,since its China made and well...cheap!).
Some basses do look good with it,but it depends on the color of the bass..
Some look good,some look nice,some look not so nice,and some can look just aweful.

I think the Hot Rod Red Jag fell into the aweful catagory for me.

I'm not too big on matching headstocks, but there is one mix of beauty for me and it is a white fender p with the aged white pickguard, rosewood frettboard and white matching headstock. I drool everytime I see that combo.

Same here, and I would even go farther to say I really only care for matching headstocks in the darker colors (dark reds, dark blues, black, and the darker sunbursts).

For example, a StingRay with a rosewood neck and vintage sunburst on both the body and 'stock is just about perfection in my world. A J-Bass in Lake Placid blue, OK, I guess, but not the same.

One exception being a ButterCreme Ray that was on TB Classifieds a few days ago with a matching stock that just looked amazing.
