Maton jb4 or fender jag?

I've been on TB almost every day for 4 years (except for vacations and such) and this is the first time I've ever heard of the brand.

Well I'll be the token Aussie then :)

I just orderd two of the new JB4's Maton are now making again, one fretted and one frettless. About a 2-3 week wait before they are ready though. Not having played a Fender Jaguar I can't comment on how the two compare, the only Fender I have is a Victor Bailey 5St Jazz and it's not a fair to compare that to the JB4's. Quite different styles of bass.

My suggestion to you is find a store where you can spend some quality time with both basses and then base your purchase on that. It's totally a subjective thing.

I will say I was quite happy with the street price of the JB4s though, not as expensive as I thought they would be, though it would have been nicer if the price did include a hard case.
