Matt Freeman signature Bass

I went to the music shop yesterday to buy a melodica for my niece for christmas, and found a black Matt Freeman sig hanging in the bass section. I've been GASing for a new P with a black body, 3-ply black pickguard, and a maple fretboard, preferably manufactured by FMIC. This was just the ticket. My drummer figured it was "girly" of me to buy a bass primarily for the colors -- he's probably right, but I don't care.. :bassist:

Weighs 3.85 kg on my kitchen weight, which apparently is 8 pounds 8 ounces in weird foreign measurements.

The one piece maple neck of the Squier Freeman bass really appeals to me. But where I live there is none to try out... I recently purchased a Squier Chris Aiken neck here off T.B. and I find that it is one of the easiest and slimiest Precision necks I have ever played..love it on my MIM Precision body.

Now is the Matt Freeman allot different from the Chris Aiken P bass neck?? Is it allot chunkier fret board to back of the neck?? Thanks...

I can't speak to how close it is to the Aiken, but it is very comfortable. I mainly play jazz profile necks, even on my other precision I have a p-bass special (jazz profile) neck on it. Lately, I find myself only picking up this freeman. So either I'm moving more towards precision necks, or it's just THAT comfortable. I personally think it's a combination of both. It's nice. Real nice. Anyone that owns one will more than likely agree. Just super comfortable with a little bit of taper from the neck pocket to the nut like a jazz.

FINALLY received my Vintage White MF bass after 6 weeks of backorder! Well worth the wait. I have yet to find any flaw with the bass. The frets and finish are nicely done and the setup was almost perfect. Came with nice low action although I did slightly adjust the saddle (up) on the E string. Now it's perfect, no fret buzz at all and very nice P-Bass tone. The bass is surprisingly light and the contours are just right. VERY happy. First gig tomorrow night and I'm comfortable enough with it already to feature it live.

Congrats! I keep milling around looking for a good steal on a white one so I'll have both. I have that poor original pickup sitting here and it needs a body and a neck to go in. I had a vintage PAF Dimarzio that was begging to go in a bass so it's currently in my black Freeman.

I'm sure you'll continue to be impressed with the fit and finish.

Keep your eyes open for a Vintage Modified P-Bass in Amber with a maple neck. Real nice but they were gone so I ordered the Matt Freeman.

Being more used to the through-body stringing of my MIA P, I didn't like how the thick part of the E string was starting to wrap around the tuning post, especially since I've added a hipshot d-tuner. Luckily, the hardware store had the perfect solution:

Yeah! I've heard amazing things about the Squier Freeman Bass. I've never heard of Rancid or any of their songs, but this bass has killer reviews. Should've been a Fender sig, not a Squier sig.

Some artists don't deserve a Fender sig., some do. Freemna definitely deserves one for sure. :P

JMHO.

Now I want one. GAH
