Double Bass MB 150 + CAB enough power?

Hello,
I actually own a gallien krueger backline 115, but I want something less heavy to move
I tried one time on a gig a MB 150 and I liked it
For most of the music I play, I think it's ok (tzigane music)
but I've got Two bands with a "real" drummer, more rock'n'roll and crazy (do you know ZU?) and I don't know if the combo + the mb cab will be enough
what do you think about it? (knowing that the backline 115 is enough for what I'm doing now)
Is it better to get a bigger cab for those situation? would it change anything (the cab will give me only 50 w more but I don' know if I choose a cab with more "projection" it will be more efficient than the mb cab)

Usually it is much better to combine two identical cabs than to experiment with different. The GK MB150 together with the GK MBX cab sound surprisingly loud and full. I believe it would cover what you need.
On the other hand it is not very convenient to carry the combo AND the cab, eventhough they are both small and light. How about trying the Markbass CMD Mini 121P combo, which is about the same prize, just slightly bigger and almost the same weight as the GK combo? It's unbelievably loud and sounds very nice...

I don't know. Dave Holland uses the MB with a Hartke 4x10 and he gets a pretty great sound. Each cab has a certain set of characteristics.

I've used the MB 112 and I'd agree that it sounds nice and full. It is an incredibly easy cab to carry around too. I wouldn't call it perfect but I am willing to trade a little bit of the shortcomings for the amazingly easy to carry package. Also at $275 new it is pretty cool. There is one for sale here for $200.

When I play rock/pop/funk gigs, I plug my MB150E into an Ampeg 2 10. It it way more than enough power to give me some serious thump. The only reason I use it, though, is because I don't own a separate head. But it can work and it can sound really great, in my experience at any rate.

about markbass : I tried one in a shop with a EUB and I didn't like it much
power but the sound wasn't nice
I can't remember wich one it was
I 'll try to find here this on in a shop and go with my bass

for the MB 112 did you meant the markbass combo or just the cab?


If I'm not satisfied with the markbass I think I will take order on a GK MB 150 and will see for the cab (maybe the GK cabinet or a 2x10? do you have an idea of a good 2x10 not to expensive?)

Unless I've forgotten something I believe that the GK's ( I owned 3 of them) are sealed cabinets so they sound quite different than a ported cabinet. I had a GK 200MB and the GK 200 Powered Keyboard Extension Cabinet and frankly, it was definitely louder, but I can't say it really sounded as good as the single 200MB even after I disconnected the tweeter. I would suppose that the MBX would sound different since it's not a powered cabinet though.
