I use an iAmp800 (which IME/IMO is pretty similar to a Markbass) with an Epi cab and I've had great results with it.

I'd say Epi cabs with the highest wattage heads you can get. Epifani recommends for the 310's and up to have loads of power. Everything Markbass makes isn't near the range except the SD800. You can get more watts for less money IMO.

I use a GK1001RB with mine and it's much cheaper than the MB SD800

I don't understand. You have options for using both MB and EPI with other brands, so is the point to use at least one of the two companies no matter what?

I'll make my guesses as to why later, but the theory is that most Epi amps are sold to Epi cab users and most MB cabs are sold to MB amp owners. Whereas most MB amp users use other brand cabs and most Epi cab users use other brand amplifiers.

For now I'll hold off on my theory of why...
