Tried a search and didn't see anything. What do you think are his top 3-5 bass songs?

I would put "Old Brown Shoe" on the list. Tried learning that one time and the quick runs just killed me - that's the one that really taught me to respect McCartney's chops. Also, "Don't Let Me Down." Great melodic line. For a third, probably "Come Together." We all know it's simple, but that's just an iconic bass part.

I have a tough time thinking of a Beatle song in which I don't care for his bass lines. That's how impressive his bass work is to me.

I remember years ago learning the bass to "Another Day" and thinking "wow, he is so good!"

I love Baby You're a Rich man - I think its the Rick on that cut, marvelous tone and groove! I second SactoBass; its hard to find a cut where Sir Paul doesn't sound good. His lines supply exactly what the tune needs - he seems to never be about technique or ego, yet his playing has great depth and a "rightness' about it.

I remember seeing somewhere where he was just warming up and playing along doing all sorts of nasty fills and Nigel Godrich was like "Yeah thats what you gotta do just go all out!". The whole song is like 3 or 4 different takes... BEAST!

There is one song you never hear talked about-- the live version of "Letting Go" off of the Wings Over America album....his bass lines are so aggressive and his tones just kills...he normally does not play that aggressively...absolutely rips his Ric!...and of course-it fits perfectly into the song
